OVER $800 RAISED FOR ASL RANCH AT DEAF FLEA MARKET
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA--(13 May 1998)-EF Training Center, Inc. (EFTC), parent organization of DEAF EXPO and DEAF USA, continued its fundraising campaign for the ASL RANCH PROJECT during the DEAF FLEA MARKET on Saturday, May 91ll•
Over 340 people attended the third DEAF FLEA MARKET held at the Burbank Armory in Burbank, CA. This local community event provides an alternative for those prospective exhibitors who cannot afford the higher cost of exhibiting at the national Deaf Expo show held every November.
Featured at the Deaf Flea Market, along with 29 exhibits, was the Deafoscope booth and a silent auction. Ken Elks from the Deaf Entertainment Foundation served as an announcer providing hourly updates on EFTC, door prize winners, the ASL RANCH PROJECT, and details for Deaf Expo '98 which will be held at the Ontario Convention Center November 13-15.
Two fundraising activities for the ASL RANCH PROJECT brought a total of 53 donations totaling $859.00. This brings the total raised to date to $6,125.55. A total of $50,000 needs to be raised as the first step towards the $2 million needed for property purchase and required modifications.
Donations Accepted Year-Round
Linda Cummings, who was appointed as the ASL Ranch Coordinator last October, also announced and displayed six donation categories: the Gold Club, Rock Club, Brick Club, Wood Club, Rope Club, and the $5+ Booster Club. A list of donors is available by contacting EFTC or going to their web site at http://www.DEAFEXPO.ORG
Along with a list of donors displayed in the ASL Ranch section on the web site, there is information on the ASL RANCH PROJECT, its goals and ways and means of making contributions. All donations made under one person's name will be added to the total amount previously donated, if any, and when the amount goes over a specific level, the person is automatically upgraded to the next category. Donations can be made on a one-time basis or as a pledge on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis.
Other options include: donating stocks at your cost basis but potentially receiving a tax deduction at its higher current market value; naming the ASL RANCH PROJECT as the beneficiary of a bequest through your will; purchasing an insurance policy naming the ASL RANCH PROJECT as the beneficiary; leaving instructions that upon your death, donations be made to the ASL Ranch Project; making a donation in memory of a deceased person, or in honor of a birthday, anniversary or celebration.
Names of all donors will also be printed in the national DEAF USA publication and displayed at DEAF EXPO '98 in November. All contributions to the ASL Ranch are directed to a specific account that has been established for this purpose. All donations are tax-deductible under federal regulations governing 501 (c)(3) non-profit organizations.
To mail your contribution, please make payment payable to 'ASL RANCH' and mail to the attention of Linda Cummings, ASL Ranch Project Coordinator, 7712 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA 91605-2815. Upon receiving your donation, we will mail you an Acknowledgement of Donation.
